I CANNOT, IN GOOD CONSCIENCE...

...EAT A PIECE OF CHEESECAKE. EVER AGAIN. I THINK.

let me explain...

i watch The Biggest Loser. I LOVE IT! i freaking love jillian and i want her to kick my butt at the gym some day! she rocks!! so, last night jillian is having a conversation with her new black team about dessert. (later it was apparent this was a "plug" for Extra gum) she's asking each teammate what their favorite dessert is. this guy says "cheesecake." i'm thinkin', "hey, i like cheesecake!" and then she says that ONE SLICE IS 1800 CALORIES! what? did i hear that right? oh yeah, one whole day's worth of calories. and then it ALL starts to make sense. over the holidays my parents had this cheesecake at their house. you know, the one from Costco, that is 4 different kinds of cheesecakes all sliced and from The Cheesecake Factory! yeah. that one! it's delicious! so, i had about 2 1/2 pieces over the course of 4 days. i was thinking i had been doing good for only having one dessert each day and maybe not even a whole slice. NOPE. WRONG. no wonder i couldn't drop any weight for a couple weeks. DUH!

so, for me, cheesecake is out. (but brownies are not. heh heh)

Yeah, I love that show too! I saw that about the cheesecake also. I thought the guy was saying that the one kind of cheesecake he liked had that much, maybe not all do? I don't know. Cheesecake may not be my downfall but treats in general are.

The same thing happened to me right after Shelley was born! In the hospital Brady brought me a shake from DQ that I fell in love with. He was bringing home 2 - or sometimes 3 - a week.

About a month later (thank goodness it wasn't any longer) my mom calls to read me a list of foods the FDA wants banned -- my shake was on it!!!

I'm proud to say I've only had 1/2 of one since (the day I graduated from BYU Brady thought he'd be nice and get me one -- I obliged, of course!).

Why, oh why, does it have to be that way?

Thank you so much for the comments. Umm, so I think I might be crazy. When I go to the Cheesecake factory I order Strawberry Shortcake. It is my absolute favorite thing there.

And OMG I am insanely jealous of you and your sister for living in the Northwest! I miss it so much.

I am going to leave a comment on your sisters page. Please inform her that I am not crazy ;)

I bought that same cheesecake from Costco for a get together and ate a few peices over the course of several days. I also saw that Biggest Loser episode and was pretty freaked out and of course thought of the cheescake I ate at Christmas. I have tried to avoid the stuff for quite a while but it is so good that I very ccassionally have a peice that I share (I don't believe I have ever eaten my very own whole slice of cheesecake- I want to but don't)or something. 1800 sounded ridiculous and maybe there is a peice of cheescake out there that has than many calories, like the kind that dude on Biggest Loser likes. I looked the nutrition info for cheesecake factory cheescake and saw their original kind has in the 600's and their mousse kind has in the 700's. While that is still and enormous amount, it is less than half of what they were saying on Biggest Loser, which gives me a teeny more peace of mind.

1800 sounds like she is talking about the entire cake. Even the grossest of huge burgers is less than that. My mom buys the Costo cheese cake and I've looked at the NI on the box and it's like 400-600 per slice depending upon the flavor.

Here are some sites that I found too. NOT that I am advocating eating cheesecake but I don't want you getting all freaked out either

This is for 9.5 ounces (that is HUGE) http://www.calorieking.com/foods/food/carbs-calories-in-the-cheesecake-factory-cheesecakes-chocolate-oreo-mudslide-10_Y2lkPTMzMjExJmJpZD0xMDEwJmZpZD0xMTY3NzkmcGFyPQ.html

Thanks swizzlepop-- I want you to advocate me eating cheescake! :)..
..on occassion and in moderation. I wished I still had my costco cheescake box to check. I know I have checked it before and if it had said anywhere near 1800 I would have set the thing down and walked away, which I usually still do, except on special occassions.
